Four useful tools for gamers

For all the gamers who dream of making their hobby a profession (but not necessarily), I present to you a short list of 4 software applications that can help.

  1. TeamSpeak 3 - A great communications tool ideal for the use of clan members. There's servers, channels and all sorts of ways to organize a big team of gamers. I've used it for many games and found it not only useful, but a (virtual) life-saver in some cases. Get it and use it!
  2. Skype - If you're not part of a clan, or if you simply don't need all the hassle of TeamSpeak, you can always use Skype. It provides a great audio quality at a minimal bandwidth cost (so it has little to no impact on your lag).
  3. Steam - This is not only a game distribution platform, but also a great help for those with lots of games installed on their computers, be it PCs or Macs. Steam allows you to add non-steam games, so that you'll have all your purchased titles in one place. Stop cluttering your desktop with all those games' shortcuts.
  4. Fraps  - This piece of software is more than just a screen-casting tool. Not only it allows you to record video or capture snapshots of your games, but it is also a benchmarking tool (software that measures hardware performance).
What other tools do you use while gaming?
