We've seen films made after game franchises and games made after movie franchises. But Indie Game: The Movie is a different thing altogether. It is a film about some North American independent game developers' journeys. This project has been in the making for over a year, according to their website.
The developers followed are not any random beginners, but people with popular releases, such as Super Meat Boy, FEZ and Braid. Just this fact alone and it still makes the movie worth watching. Wouldn't you think so?
What is very interesting is the mediums through which James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot, the filmmakers, decided to release the movie. Besides being shown at various film festivals, game conferences and other related screenings, Indie Game: The Movie will be released on DVD and digital download through Steam, iTunes Store and their website.
There's no doubt that this movie will become a symbol in the indie game developers' stage and in the game development industry as a whole. I sure am going to get it.
Will you buy the movie? Why?
